Day 1: FLY SYDNEY – HOCHIMINH CITY                                             

1630 Welcome at Tan Son Nhat international airport. Flight landing at 1605, then transfer to check in Grand Saigon hotel. Free for leisure for a long day trip.

Day 02: HOCHIMINH (HCM) CITY TOUR    (Lunch included)

Breakfast at hotel is served from 0600 to 0930 am at second floor of Grand SGN hotel. Called Saigon Palace Restaurant.

0830: Pick up and welcome at Grand SGN hotel.  A half day trip to visit Saigon inclusive of some popular palaces such as:

War Remnants Museum - originally opened in September 1975; it displays old military equipment and other related items from Vietnam War.

Afterward, continuing seeing the Reunification Palace, formerly known as the Presidential Palace. The place symbolizes the end of Vietnam War when a North Vietnamese army tank went through its gates. Then taking a short stroll to see Notre Dame Cathedral and General Post Office, they are the beautiful examples of architecture from the French colonial period.

Shopping at Ben Thanh Market. Finish tour around 1400.

1430: Free in the afternoon.

Breakfast at hotel, then 0830 check out. 0900 pick up and transfer by bus to ferry terminal in Saigon. 0930 departure by ferry to Vungtau. It takes one hour and a half to get there.

1100 arrive in Vungtau city, then take bus to check in Grand Vungtau hotel.


Vungtau city tour:

Transferred to Bai Sau (Back Beach) the longest of the peninsula’s beaches; spend time walking along the beachside area adjacent to the former Australia wartime base (1ALSG), The Australian Logistic Support Group.

Drive past the impressive VC memorial. Other sites of interest visited are, the Peter Badcoe” club, the Chopper Pad, the former American recreational “Beach Comber Bar”.

Visit The Robert Taylor Museum of World Wide Arms.

Back to hotel for shower, then bus picks up and go outside for dinner at the local seafood restaurant.


Day 04:  VUNG TAU – THE OLD BATTLE FIELD TOUR ; O/N in Vung Tau  (Lunch included) 

Breakfast at Rex hotel, then 0800 departure by bus for the old battle filed tour in Baria Vungtau area inclusive of:

Long Phuoc Underground  Tunnel: to visit a former wartime tunnel complex.

Nui Dat Base (SAS Hill):

Then continue by car to the former Australian Task Force Base (ATF) at Nui Dat with the former military landmarks such as, SAS hill,” Luscombe Field “ air strip,  Luscombe Bowl and the “Kangaroo South Pad” a Helicopter dust off strip, including the old Troop Lines areas of 1 Fld Sqn. Visit the kindergarten at Nui Dat.

Long Tan Cross Site: The Long Tan Memorial Cross with the brief of LTC and Long Tan battle in 1966.

Take a look / photos Horseshoe Hill (Former Fire support Base) on the way to Long Hai. Have lunch at beach restaurant.

We  and  walk  up to the Minh Dam Secret Zone (a former wartime Viet Cong H Q strong hold, now commemorated by a Vietnamese Memorial Pagoda to their war dead), trek the rugged mountainside path through former hospital sites, living areas and hideouts used by the Viet Cong forces.

Day 05: VUNGTAU – BINH BA – XUYEN MOC (Lunch and dinner included)

Have breakfast at Grand Vung Tau hotel, then our guide and driver will pick up at Grand Vung Tau hotel.

Visit Binh Ba The Battle of Binh Ba (6–8 June 1969), also known as Operation Hammer, was a hard fought.

Then Xuyen Moc through the national road 57, visit the old bridge that built by engineers from the 1st Field Squadron, Royal Australian Engineers (RAE) for the Vietnamese people of Xuyen Moc

Visit Nui May Tao with battle in Xuyen Moc called “Operation Paddington”

Then back to Vungtau city for your relaxing in the afternoon.

We do hope to get back the city at around 1500, then give you free time to so around flag area, R&C and some some for you to take a photo before say good bye VTG next morning.

Or go shopping at local market.

Then visit my father and his mates, have dinner with them at my father’s home and enjoy the music performance that showed by themselves.

Have breakfast at Grand Vung Tau hotel, then check out. 0730 our guide will pick you up at Grand Vungtau city, then we move ahead to Dong Nai to visit the Dong Nai Museum to see the Outdoors weapons display. Lunch at Bien Hoa before proceeding to the site of FSB Coral and inspect the VC Memorial and Shrine.

Afterwards we travel 10 klms North to the site of FSB Balmoral, View the many B52 bomb craters and have the layout of the forward lines explained. We continue on the Cu Chi tunnel.

Then have lunch at Ben Nay restaurant

Arrive in Cu Chi tunnel (Ben Dinh tunnel) and proceeding to an underground hut to watch a short video and presentation about Cu Chi tunnels before having a real hand-on experience of what it took to live in the tunnels. Afterward, test tasting the steamed tapioca root which is the main staple food in Cu Chi during the war. For those interested, there is an opportunity to fire off an AK47 or MK16 with real ammunitions at the nearby shooting range.

Back to Hochiminh city. Check in hotel on arrival.

Day 07: HOCHIMINH CITY – MEKONG (MY THO & CAN THO) (Lunch included)

0800 am, our guide and the car will come and pick you up at your hotel. Then departure for My Tho. Arrive in My Tho (Mekong) at around 10:00 AM. Then boarding a motorboat and cruising through beautiful rivers and canals where coconut trees line perfectly along both sides. Reaching a bee-keeping farm where Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) can be heard and seasonal tropical fruit as well as honey tea can be tasted (included).

Then slowly proceeding to a workshop where coconut candies are made and have a chance to learn the coconut candies making process.

Afterward, being on a horse cart on the village road and traveling through some tranquil villages where orchard gardens…can be seen and admired.

Before heading to lunch, taking a ride on a hand-rowing boat and slowly cruising through a small creek with beautiful overhanging coconut trees
